Founded in New York City in 1819, Global Ministries today supports more than 300 missionaries in 60 countries, including the United States. It has personnel, projects and partners in 136 countries. General Secretary Thomas Kemper

Thomas Kemper, General Secretary of Global MinistriesThomas Kemper is the general secretary and top executive of the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church. He is responsible for personnel, projects and mission partnerships in more than 120 countries. 

A native of Germany, Kemper is the first person from outside the United States elected to lead a United Methodist agency.

 

 

Cabinet

The cabinet members lead program or administrative units and are appointed because of their special expertise. Individually, and as a whole, they also serve as advisers to Thomas Kemper. The cabinet makes operational decisions under authority granted by the agency’s board of directors as stipulated by the Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church.
