Seven to be Commissioned During the Annual Global Ministries Board Meeting

Seven new Global Missionaries will complete their intensive two-week orientation this month, concluding with a service of commissioning (sending) on October 12, 2017. The service will take place during the Annual Fall Executive Board Meeting of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church, October 12­–14.

The service will take place 4:30 p.m. at the Global Ministries headquarters in Grace United Methodist Church at 458 Ponce De Leon Avenue, Atlanta. Bishop Thomas Bickerton, will preach at the service and Bishop Hee-Soo Jung will preside over the commissioning. The service will be livestreamed October 12, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at

Countries of origin for the seven Global Missionaries are: the Philippines, Mozambique, the United States, and Zimbabwe. Their mission placement sites will include the following countries; Brazil, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Fiji, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia.

Global Missionaries serve within the global Methodist connection in a variety of roles and ministries with partners around the world. The following are the seven Global Missionaries to be commissioned during the service, with their home context and country of service.

• Emily Athena Everett is from Houston, TX, United States, serving in Brazil.
• Angelito Berdol Dalisay is from the Philippines, serving in South Korea.
• Katherine Meek is from Round Rock, TX, United States, serving in Sierra Leone.
• Fernando Simone Munguno Matsimbe is from Mozambique, serving in Tanzania.
• Carmen Manalac Scheuerman is from the Philippines, serving in Fiji.
• Lorraine Charinda is from Zimbabwe, serving in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
• Temba Darlington Nkomozepi is from Zimbabwe, serving in Zambia.
