Mary Lou Greenwood Boice, Executive Director of Mission Engagement
Mary Lou Greenwood Boice is interim executive director of Mission Engagement at the United Methodist Church’s General Board of Global Ministries, which includes the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Her unit is responsible for communications, marketing, fundraising and connectional relations. It incorporates relations with annual (regional) conferences and the Advance, the designated mission giving channel of the denomination. Boice came to Global Ministries following a career as a United Methodist theological school administrator involving fund-development, organizational relations, recruitment and communications. Boice retired at the end of 2017 as associate dean of admissions and financial aid at the Candler School of Theology of Emory University in Atlanta, a post she held for seven years, having earlier been associate dean of development and external relations. She came to Emory in 1992 after a decade on the administrative staff of Boston University School of Theology. Originally from Massachusetts, she holds a Master of Theological Studies from Boston University and earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in education from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Boice and her husband, Gordon, live in Decatur, Georgia and are active at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta.
