Hannah Schnaidt is a Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service with the Nome Children’s Home in Nome, Alaska. She was commissioned in August 2018.
The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.
In the United States, GMF service continues the historical US-2 mission program for young adults; it operates through affiliates, such as annual conferences, districts or other institutional expressions of the church.
Hannah is from Novi, Michigan, and is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Northville, Michigan, in the Michigan Annual Conference. She holds a bachelor’s degree in teaching from Grand Valley State University, Allendale Township, Michigan. She has worked as a substitute school teacher and a Christian education intern.
“Faith and church have been parts of my life as long as I can remember,” says Hannah. “I have been very involved for many years. From serving in the Appalachian Mountains to Detroit, each mission experience has help to grow my relationship with God. Growing up in a church that cared about me not only offered me support but also showed me the love of Jesus and how we are all connected through God’s love.
“My whole life,” she continues, “I have felt that mission was something I needed to pursue. While I am serving others, my spiritual fulfillment helps to make me a happier and more settled person. Along my faith journey, I have felt and seen God’s influence, often encouraging more service.”
