Theresa Frost is a Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service with the Florida Annual Conference based in Lakeland. She was commissioned in August 2018.
The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.
In the United States, GMF service continues the historical US-2 mission program for young adults; it operates through affiliates, such as annual conferences, districts or other institutional expressions of the church.
Theresa is from Vicksburg, Mississippi, and is a member of the Taylor United Methodist Church, a congregation of the Mississippi Annual Conference. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi, Oxford, and also studied at Itawamba Community College. She has worked as a youth and children’s intern at her home church and as a camp counselor.
Theresa can name the day and year – December 15, 2013 – when she began a relationship with God. It was her senior year of high school. She had no association with faith or church prior to that time. “God provided me with a Christian community while in college, the Wesley Foundation, to love me and teach me,” she says. “The people I met there helped me strengthen my relationship with God. Two girls, in particular, mentored me and bought me my first Bible. … My relationship with the Lord grows stronger every day.”
Of her call to mission, Theresa says, “I want to spend my life going out of my comfort zone for God. I want to share God’s love and go wherever he sends me.”
