A missionary serving through the Global Health program with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church, Dr. Tendai Manyeza, MD, is Administrator and Chief Medical Officer for UMC General Hospital in Sierra Leone.
Nurtured in a United Methodist family, Tendai was actively involved in church activities from a young age. "I became aware of God's presence in my life during one of the many revivals I used to attend at my rural home," he shares.
Born in Zimbabwe, Dr. Manyeza attended the University of Zimbabwe in Harare where he earned his medical degree. He worked in Harare and Parirenyatwa Central hospitals before accepting his current position in 1995.
Tendai has served the United Methodist Church as a district finance person and conference medical secretary. He is also a part-time lecturer in the health sciences department at Africa University.
"I am in the healing ministry because God has a purpose for me in that ministry. I believe I am still operating in God's plan by responding to this call to mission. I shall do my best to serve my God and all people he assigns me to serve."
Tendai is married and his wife is completing her theological training at Africa University. They are the parents of four children.
