#3022440 J. Boye-Caulker is a Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service as youth program coordinator at the Sunbeam Language and Vocational Center. He was commissioned in August 2018.
The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.
J. is from Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he is a member of the Old Wharf United Methodist Church in the Sierra Leone Annual Conference. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and politics from Fourah Bay College of the University of Sierra Leone. He has worked as a volunteer for Save the Children International and as a marketing officer. His father is a pastor in the Sierra Leone Conference.
From an early age, J. learned to trust God’s grace. His call to mission was influenced by a love for justice instilled in him by his father. “I was taught to love my neighbor, stand for the truth and promote justice,” he says. “A strong desire to love and do justice has grown as I have grown.”
