Mission Minute: A Conversation with Missionary Connie DiLeo
Connie DiLeo has served as a missionary in the Dominican Republic for 12 years. She began her work with Community Partners, an organization founded by retired Methodist Missionaries from England, where she was the overseer of two schools and two clinics. Her work with young people led to the formation of a new faith community. She is currently serving as the pastor of this congregation.
What is mission?
DiLeo: “Mission to me is being in relationship with our brothers and sisters around the world and being sensitive to God's leading and prompting to ways we can mutually resolve the needs that are present in different areas."
Why is mission necessary?
DiLeo: “Mission is necessary because we are called not only to have a relationship with God, but a relationship with the world. We cannot be a Christian in isolation.”
