Describe the need affecting the community.
The lack of the most needed materials in Khmer language and the need for qualified writers in Khmer and translators from English to Khmer. There is a dire need for printed resources in Khmer.
How will this Advance project help to address the need?
We are looking for the church's leaders in our Methodist churches who are available to help, not as full time worker, but are able to spare time to write and develop materials that could be used in local churches. In the meantime, all of the CE members help find resources beyond the what is available in the Methodist church that could be adapted for use in Methodist churches.
Describe the primary goal of the project.
The primary goal of this project is to develop Christian curriculum for every Methodist Church in Cambodia. After the curricula are produced we will teach the pastor and the church leaders so that they could in turn be able to use these materials to teach within their own congregations as well as the people in the community. Our goal is to build up every believer to have strong faith and good character.
Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project.
Every Christian should be able to love God and love her/his neighbor. The witness of Christians to Christ will transform the whole community to become more caring of themselves and also of their environment. Our hope is that there will be social, cultural and even economic and political transformation. Improvement and progress in education and in the general health of the people as persons affirm the value of everyone in the community, and the changes that society needs to undergo. The change we hope to see is holy life within society holy after the vision of Christ.
