Dr. Albert G. Willicor, missionary with the Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church through GBGM Global Health, is Chief Medical Officer at Ganta United Methodist Hospital in Ganta, Liberia, Liberia Annual Conference.


Dr. Willicor is native to Liberia where he received his elementary, junior high and high school education. He was valedictorian of his senior class and was awarded two scholarships to the University of Liberia where he studied engineering and pre-med. In 1983 he received his Medical Doctor degree from the A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine in Monrovia, Liberia.

John F. Kennedy Memorial Center in Monrovia was the site of Dr. Willicor’s internship before his Resident training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Liberian-Japanese Friendship Maternity Hospital. While there he was Head Resident of the Surgical Contraceptive Program.

Dr. Willicor apprenticed in general surgery at the LAMCO Yekepa Hospital in 1988 and later became Chief Medical Officer. In 1990 he was appointed to the Central Maternity Hospital N’Zerekore, Republic of Guinea. 1992 brought an appointment to the Firestone Medical Center as Physician-in-Charge of the male ward and all surgical cases. After one year with Ganta United Methodist Hospital and one year with the Diecke Methodist Clinic in Guinea, Dr. Willicor returned to Ganta in 2004 to assume his current position.

Albert and wife Angeline, a nurse at Ganta Hospital, are the parents of daughters Ma-Kebbeh, Deddeh, Yassah and son Albert S., Jr. In his free time Dr. Willicor enjoys hobbies of reading and writing poetry.
