Established 134 years ago, the Methodist Church in Uruguay is an autonomous church, organized nationally. There are fraternal relations with other churches through the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Uruguay, the Council of Christian Churches of Uruguay, the Council of Evangelical Methodist Churches of Latin America and the Caribbean, Latin American Council of Churches, and World Council of Churches.

The church supports educational institutions in Montevideo, the Crandon Institute, Goodwill Institute, the University Crandon Institute, and Crandon School and Lyceum in Salto. They have several diaconal works within the neediest sectors.
