Young and vital, the Evangelical United Methodist Church of Ecuador (IEMUE) began as United Church of Ecuador. Its membership is increasing, and the Rev. Silvio Ceballos was recently elected presiding bishop of the IEMUE.
As a new church, the Ecuadorian Methodist Church is working to increase the training of their leadership, including establishing a young-adults program, in the Methodist tradition. The church maintains close relationships with the Latin American Council of Churches (CLAI), the Latin American and Caribbean Council of Methodist Churches (CIEMAL), Methodist Church of Brazil, Methodist Church of Great Britain, and different conferences of The United Methodist Church.
