Global Ministries started working in Brazil in the 1830s but more systematically in the 1860s. In 1930 the Methodist Church [in Brazil] became autonomous. This Methodist Church currently has six annual and two missionary conferences with approximately 215,000 members. Several Global Ministries missionaries serve in country - one working at the Methodist Seminary in Maringa, two leading the National Shade and Fresh Water program and one in an ecumenical organization called Koinonia.

The Methodist Church collaborates with Global Ministries with mission personnel in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the US. Several Persons in Mission are supported in country mostly in community ministries. Currently, the priorities of Global Ministries include leadership development and community ministries.
