The United Methodist Church is in mission partnership with the United Church of Christ in Japan (UCCJ), the Korean Christian Church in Japan (KCCJ), and the National Christian Council in Japan (NCCJ).

Global Ministries missionaries in Japan work in the areas of education, ministries among refugees and migrants, congregational development, sustainable agriculture, and ministry with the elderly. It also supports the Asian Rural Institute (ARI) goal of developing leadership in sustainable agriculture among participants from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

The Women’s Division is involved in leadership development of young women, facilitating exposures to the United Nations process, conducting forums on violence against women and human trafficking, suicide prevention, and the like. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) partners with churches in Japan in responding to the triple disaster of earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown that hit the country in March 2011.
