In this issue of connectNmission, we want to say thank you for participating in UMC #GivingTuesday; give you a glimpse of the General Board of Global Ministries’ digital Christmas card greeting; share a video that introduces the "Beyond Bethlehem, Hope for Refugees this Christmas" Advent campaign; explore news ways of giving through the United Methodist Gifts of Hope giving catalog; and get the word out about upcoming events.

UMC #Giving Tuesday
The General Board of Global Ministries wants to thank United Methodists, friends, churches, missionaries, and partners everywhere for participating in this year’s UMC #GivingTuesday event!

Nearly 6,000 donors from 27 countries donated $2.8 million through The Advance to support mission and ministries around the world. Global Ministries matched the first $1 million, building additional incentive for giving. More than 770 projects and missionaries received 8,757 gifts through The Advance, the designated giving channel of The United Methodist Church.

MEDIA: BEYOND BETHLEHEM – HOPE FOR REFUGEES THIS CHRISTMAS

Watch Mike Slaughter, lead pastor of Gingshamsburg United Methodist Church, as he introduces “Beyond Bethlehem, Hope for Refugees this Christmas,” an Advent campaign in collaboration with UMCOR, Global Ministries, Ginghamsburg UMC, The United Methodist Publishing House, and United Methodist Communications.

Slaughter says, “Awareness is important, but alone not enough. Sacrificial and urgent action is required. We are challenging you this Christmas not to idly stand by as more lives are lost and displaced. Spend only half as much on your own Christmas this year, and give the other half as a Christmas Miracle Offering toward serving the 60 million faces of the refugees Christ loves."

You can also watch “Beyond Bethlehem,” a video which captures the plight of some of the refugees affected by ongoing conflict. This video was jointly produced by UMCOR, Global Ministries, Ginghamsburg UMC, The United Methodist Publishing House, and United Methodist Communications.
