Christabel Zimbeva thumb.jpgChristabel Zimbeva is a Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service. She was commissioned in August 2017.

The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.

Christabel is from Wedza, Zimbabwe, where she is a member of St. James United Methodist Church, a congregation of the Zimbabwe East Annual Conference. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree (with honors) in agronomy from Midlands State University, Gweru, Zimbabwe. She has worked as an agriculture and integrated science teacher at Ebenezer Rusdale School and many other schools and served as an intern at the Zim Earthworm Farm (a company promoting organic farming in Zimbabwe through manufacturing biofertilizers using earthworms).

She is excited to be a Global Mission Fellow, to have an opportunity to use her academic and practical training on behalf of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christabel is confident about  God’s guidance and support in this faith venture.

“My call to mission was greatly driven by the fact that I am a fully-committed member of the United Methodist youth fellowship group with a passion to help others through my skills, service, and Christian know-how. I have high hopes that my role as a Global Mission Fellow will help in alleviating hunger, as I as I teach farmers sustainable farming methods with the aim of dealing with adverse consequences of global warming and climate change affecting the world. I am innovative and assertive, with a good sense of humor, and work well with diverse cultures. Inspired by John 9:5----as long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world---so I am going to shine in DRC (my placement site) so that people living there will be blessed by my call on this mission."
