Lynda Sylvain is a Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service. She was commissioned in August 2017.\
The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.
Lynda is from the Florida Annual Conference in the United States where she is a member of the Canal Point United Methodist Church in Canal Point. She is a certified nursing assistant and is also certified in CPR and medical interpretation. She has worked for the Glades Initiatives, a community-based health and education program.
Lynda describes her faith journey as “unbroken and unshakable.” She says, “I have been through some tribulations that only God was able to get me out of. I have also received some wonderful gifts from him.”
She finds that doing mission work is where her heart is most happy, and Lynda has decided to enthusiastically embrace the Global Mission Fellow experience. “I have cleared my mind…I’ll go wherever God sends me, with no complaints.”
