Mary Ann Dumalang thumb.jpgMary Ann Oman Dumalang is a Global Mission Fellow with the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries, engaged in a two-year term of service. She was commissioned in August 2017.

The Global Mission Fellows program takes young adults ages 20-30 out of their home environments and places them in new contexts for mission experience and service. The program has a strong emphasis on faith and justice. Global Mission Fellows become active parts of their new local communities. They connect the church in mission across cultural and geographical boundaries. They grow in personal and social holiness and become strong young leaders working to build just communities in a peaceful world.

Sowers of the Word Church is non-denominational church that preaches, teaches, testifies and evangelizes the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mary Ann is from the Philippines where she is an ordained elder in the Visayas Philippines Annual Conference. She has served as administrative pastor of the Sagbayan United Methodist Church, Bohol; youth pastor at Laguitas Community Church, Bukidnon; and associate pastor of the Mortola United Methodist Church in Cagayan de Oro City.

She has begun additional studies in education at Bohol Island State University, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology from the Southern Philippines Methodist College, and a Master of Divinity degree from the Bishop Han Theological Seminary.

Mary Ann says she had an “Aldersgate (heart-warming) experience” at the age of 16. “It’s amazing how God plucked an introverted girl from an insignificant place and molded her for role in leadership and Christian service…. Indeed, '‘God does not call the qualified; God qualifies the called.’ This speaks to me personally.”

Her call to mission relates to the responsibility of all believers to fulfill the Great Commission--to make disciples. In applying to become a Global Mission Fellow, Mary Ann decided to respond to God by stepping out of her comfort zone to become involved in God’s global work: “I desire to be part of the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus Christ in answering the critical issues of our times, such as poverty, injustice, health, education for youth and children, not just in my country but anywhere that God intends for me to be.”
