People living in the areas covered by the project (eastern and southeastern Kentucky) did not have access to good used clothing and household items. In addition, employment opportunities were few in those areas. At this time, 9 different counties in the area covered by the project contain Opportunity Stores -- places where folks can be employed and can also obtain good used clothing and household items. Also two United Methodist churches receive support from the United Methodist Mountain Mission.
