Today, Reverend and Mrs. William Cadman, American missionaries, with the assistance of a non-Christian writer, Mr. Phan Khoi translated the popular bible in Vietnam in 1926.
From 1995 Rev. Dr. Bau Dang, who was trained by the UBS, began the work of re-translating the whole bible from Hebrew and Greek into Vietnamese language. It has been reviewed, edited by professors, pastors, and laity within the country, and overseas. The task completed in 2011 and the Vietnamese government granted the permit to print the first 5,000 copies in Vietnam. They have been distributed among the Vietnamese both in Vietnam and overseas.
By the grace of God, Christianity is growing fast in Vietnam and there are many requests for more Bibles, especially for the poor. It costs $5.50 to print and distribute a Bible, both OT&NT, in Vietnam. One hundred percent of your gift will go to the printing and distributing of the Bibles in Vietnam. Your support would promote and enhance our mission works to the Vietnamese people.
Here is a comment from Dr. Bau Van Le, M.D., and National Director of Campus Ministry in Vietnam: "Praise God for the newest Bible version, the 2011 version, which has been distributed in Vietnam. This is a great joy for God's children. The 2011 version has a literary style which is easy to understand and with clarity; it reflects the familiar and popular language. This version particularly fits well with the young people, high school and college students, the well-educated community, the businessmen and women, and the high tech community. Regarding the need for this Bible... we need to have several hundred thousand copies of this version in the next three years and millions of it in the next ten years."
Here is another comment from Miss Truong Na Na, a theological student: "When reading the Bible translated by Rev. Dr. Bau Dang I realize that the language is so easy to understand and clear. The language being used is very popular, the kind of language that the Vietnamese are using today. This translation is very useful for me and for other theological students."
Goals & Objectives
Our goals are:
By the end of 2012, we plan to print and distribute at least 10,000 Bibles more (besides 5,000 already printed and distributed); by the end of 2013, 25,000 bibles; 2014, 35,000 Bibles; 2015, 45,000 Bibles; 2016, 55,000 Bibles.
2012 15,000 bibles
1. Praying for God's help and guidance
2. Raising funds among the Vietnamese Christians in the USA, Canada, Australia, and Europe.
3. Seeking donations from non-Vietnamese churches, organizations, and individuals to support this project.
4. Design a website to promote the bible and seek the financial support.
What we already have in place are:
a. A non-profit organization in the USA and an account in the bank (Chase Bank)
b. A printing company in Vietnam that can print for us as soon as we have orders.
c. A network of distribution in Vietnam that they can deliver the bibles even to those who live deep in the jungles.
