Describe the need affecting the community.

Methodist Conferences in Europe are minority churches and many cases very small. It is not possible for most conferences to provide theological education for people preparing for the ordained ministry. Hence where there is no Methodist Institution in the country ,the students study at the best possible institution in their own country. Such institutions do not provide the courses in Methodism required by the Book of discipline. Hence, graduates from these institutions lack a deep grounding in the Methodist Tradition.

How will this Advance project help to address the need?

As stated above our project was established by the Methodist churches to meet this need. In addition it provides a unique opportunity for students from different countries to develop relationships with each other, which in turn has led to the development of partnerships between congregations.

Describe the primary goal of the project.

The goal of the Methodist E-Academy is to meet the challenge of equipping people for ordained and lay leadership by utilizing the power of the internet and modern communication technologies. It aims to train leaders to continue the task of equipping Methodist churches to bear faithful and effective witness to God's reign and act as agents for personal and social transformation. In particular, it seeks to ground ordained ministers in the Methodist heritage, so that they will be aware of its significance and will be able to express this in their theology and ethical decision making, in their church life, their mission and in their relationship with the wider world.

Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project.

The development of pastors who are deeply rooted in the Methodist tradition and who can express this in their theology and ethical decision making, in their church life, their mission and in their relationship with the wider world.
