Translating and adapting UMC written resources from English into Russian.

Describe the need affecting community

Publishing of Christian literature so that our churches can be well equipped for the ministry with each other and in their respective communities. This also has the potential of building bridges to the unchurched. There are only a few Christian publishers in the post soviet countries. Our people in churches need good quality Christian books and materials that will help them study Bible, teach Sunday school classes, grow in the daily walk with God and share the good news of Jesus Christ.

How will this Advance project help to address the need?

Our project will continue to build on our existing publishing experience. Strategic planning is being formulated for publishing which will include a wide range of literature. There is a need to encourage to have Eurasians write and publish their own material. There is also a need for part time translators and proofreaders to make Christian literatuare available from other languages. Printing can be done on demand as needed since the Bishop’s office now has such equipment.

Describe the primary goal of the project

The primary goal of this project is to build strong Methodist and Christian identity in our churches by providing good quality Christian literature and resources. This is part of Congregational Development.

Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project

More people will become more familiar with Methodist thought and belief as well as be equipped for Christian service. Christian literature can help people to study together around common issues and life interests which they have in their local communities at a specific time.
