Describe the need affecting the community.

Poverty Low levels of education Lack of water Arid land. Lack of job opportunities. Lack of health services. Lack of good breed animals. Still many people cook on open fires. Lack of Biblical material culturally sensitive to rural areas. Lack of knowledge on how to use their local resources and personal abilities to overcome drudged un safe living conditions.

How will this Advance project help to address the need?

By educating people to build upon what they have with the local resources that surround them. While, reinforcing the abilities to apply and implement the eco-technologies learned, and empower others to do the same. People learn by listening, practicing, doing and sharing with others.

Describe the primary goal of the project.

PRIMARY GOAL ?GIVE YE THEM TO EAT?: GYTTE was founded in 1977, as a social outreach project of the Methodist Church of Mexico to combat hunger and poverty in the rural sector. The primary goal of the "Give Ye Them to Eat" program (GYTTE) is to strengthen the capabilities of marginalized people and communities to meet their basic needs, and to determine and sustain a just and integrated development process so people can achieve the full promise and potential of their life as a child of God. Participatory methods and development tools are used to create conditions in which change can take place from within the communities. GYTTE uses people-centered approaches to development. It is through our various programs that this goal is achieved.

Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project.

Measurement The essential reports we use to measure our performance are: Our ?Tree of Life? training center registers every service rendered, and physical location of the visitors that come. Also those that are provided directly in the communities because they can't make it to our center. Through our two health regional meetings celebrated during the year our community-based primary health care promoters report their services rendered by filling out a report that is provided by our nurse. Our nurse later tabulates these reports. Often photos, videos are also a means of demonstrating performance.
