The Rev. Dr. Ut To is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church assigned to Southeast Asia as country director and mission president.
Serving in Southeast Asia since 2001, Ut trains Christian leaders in developing new congregations and nurturing Christians in Southeast Asia. He incorporates Wesley's model of class meetings or cell groups into the culture, tradition, and social settings of the country in his effort to establish new congregations. Ut also serves as founder and president of Wesley Theological College and Seminary, Ho Chi Minh City and faculty mentor of Doctor of Ministry program at United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio.
An ordained elder of the Detroit Annual Conference since 1995, Ut served 10 years as associate director of the Vietnamese United Methodist Ministry of the Michigan Area before he was commissioned as a Global Ministries’ missionary. During that period, he also served on the Detroit Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and the Board of Global Ministries. In addition, Ut served as vice president of Union University of California, and academic dean of Vietnamese Bible College in Europe, based in Germany.
Ut holds a Bachelor of Religious Education (BRE) degree in pastoral studies from Tyndale University College, and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from Tyndale Seminary, both in Toronto, Canada. He completed his Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree at San Francisco Theological Seminary, San Anselmo, California, and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from Capella University, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Ut and his wife Karen, also a missionary, have two adult children, Andy To and David To. David has served as pastor of Howard United Methodist Church, Findlay, Ohio.
