W. Terence ErbeleTeri Erbele, an elder of the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference, is a missionary with the Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church currently serving as a pastor with Ketchikan First United Methodist Church in Alaska.

Jesus began his ministry by quoting Isaiah, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19) Teri rejoices that as a missionary and a preacher of the Good News that he can participate in this continued ministry of Jesus who promised to be with us always and everywhere.

Serving as Mission Interpreter in Residence for the Northeast Jurisdiction from 2007 to 2008, Teri helped local churches, districts and conferences understand the call to mission for all Christians.

From 2005-2007 Teri served as District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church in Lithuania. In conjunction with service in Lithuania, he also served as Area Financial Executive (AFE) to Latvia and Eurasia.

In Russia from 1996-2005 as AFE, Teri was responsible for the bookkeeping of all Advance projects, served as treasurer of each Advance project and managed the oversight of the distribution of the Latvia and Lithuania Initiative funds.

Teri served from 1989-1995 as the Area Financial Executive in missionary service in Nigeria, West Africa.

Prior to missionary service Teri was appointed as pastor to churches in the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference. Apart from his pastoral responsibilities, he also served as District Mission Secretary, Conference Board of Global Ministries secretary, and District Church Extension Society secretary and chairperson.

Teri was born in Michigan and raised in Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from Portland State University and a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary.
