Francis Ann Coffey is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, assigned in early 2010 as a Church and Community Worker, serving as executive director of Mary's Cradle Maternal and Infant Resource Center, Bluefield, West Virginia. The center responds to the needs of pregnant women, new mothers and their families, especially those at risk. It is a project of the Bluefield Cooperative Parish of The United Methodist Church.
A native of West Virginia, Mrs. Coffey studied at the National College of Business and Technology in Bluefield, and has been associated with Mary's Cradle since 2004. She is director of children's ministries at her church, Calvary Chapel in Princeton, West Virginia.
She became a Christian at the age of 12. Since then, she says, "I have been trying to listen to God and open myself to his will. The desire to serve others and teach them about God's love has always been there. Recently, I believe God has been moving me into new opportunities to serve through mission. I want to share God's love by meeting the needs of humanity."
The services of Mary's Cradle include assistance for pregnant women, infants, and toddlers. It provides layettes for newborns, maternity wear, and information about pregnancy and raising healthy children. It works with other local agencies in seeing that the needs of pregnant women and children are met. Mary's Cradle provides safe car seats for children of all ages through the Governor's Highway Safety Program. Mrs. Coffey is a certified car seat safety technician.
Francis is married to Ryan Coffey, and the couple has two children, Izabelle and Joseph.
