Connecting the Church in Mission

Colombia

Global Ministries started working in Colombia the 1990s. The Colombian Methodist Church, a relatively new but well established church, has approximately 1,500 members distributed in three Districts and 29 congregations. Most are located among the poor, indigenous and Afro-Caribbean communities. One Global Ministries missionary works on lay leadership development.  Several National in Mission pastorates are being supported as well as one UMVIM coordination post.  Currently, the priorities of Global Ministries include leadership development, community ministries and ministry with the poor.

New York Annual Conference congregations are very involved, especially in Cartagena.  Global Ministries works with ecumenical partners including CEPAD.
